Clover Tea Rolls

A delicious, unusually-shaped roll that accompanies any meal or can be enjoyed by itself.

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Sift together flour, sugar, Baking Soda and salt into large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine milk and lemon juice; quickly stir into flour mixture to form a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured board; knead slightly. Form into small balls about the size of marbles. Put three balls into each greased muffin cup (about 2 1/4-inch diameter). Bake in 450 degree oven 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
