Black Beans and Rice

McCormick® Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix is an easy way to combine rice and beans for a thick and savory side dish or main meal.

1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup long grain rice, uncooked
2 cups water
1 package McCormick® Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed

1. Sauté onion in oil. Add water and rice. Simmer 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.

2. Add Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix and beans. Cook until heated through. Mix well.

Makes 6 servings

Variation: In step 2, also add 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes.
